Good Afternoon Hec;

As you noted there were two Stanley Cemeteries. The first was now called the Old Stanley Cemetery Site, also known as Nine Mile Diggings Cemetery, located in Smees Road, Stanley. It operated from about 1858 to 1862.

The second cemetery, called the Stanley Cemetery is located on the Stanley to Beechworth Road, Stanley and operated from 1862. To date I have very little on these as I have not yet starting research cemeteries in the Beechworth area.

At least we both seem to have the same data.

I did a check our GSV cemetery records held in the library and note we hold two records. Not too sure what they contain but I will check next time I am at the GSV. Both by Geoffrey Craig:
(a). Headstone Inscriptions Stanley Cemetery
(b). Stanley Cemetery register 2/10/1866 to 1/7/1997.

If with my research I come across any references to registers or burials, I will let you know.
Have your checked with the Beechworh Cemetery Trust to see what information they hold or can recommend. They are usually very helpful and might know of something. Also the Historical Society might also have something.

Your third cemetery has added to my knowledge and I will do some further checking.

Good luck,

David
