AUS-VIC-NE
Mailing List Support Page
This website is provided as support for the AUS-VIC-NE (North East) mailing list. The website began in the year 2000 with Rootsweb (now Ancestry), but when Ancestry stopped hosting lists in 2020, the list was moved to https://groups.io/g/aus-vic-ne and now provides support to those list subscribers.
The above mailing list is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in family, local and regional history relating to the North East area of the state of Victoria in Australia. For the purpose of this list, the North East is roughly defined as that area of Victoria, north and east of Melbourne (but not including Melbourne and its surrounds) Its nortern boundary is the New South Wales border, its southern boundary is the the Great Dividing Range, and its western boundary is very roughly a line drawn north of Melbourne. To be more exact, the shires of Moira, Greater Shepparton and Strathbogie form the western boundary.
The major towns included are Beechworth, Benalla, Bright, Chiltern, Cobram, Corryong, Euroa, Glenrowan, Greta, Jamieson, Katamatite, Mansfield, Murchison, Myrtleford, Nagambie, Nathalia, Numurkah, Porepunkah, Rutherglen, Shepparton, Tallangatta, Tatura, Towong, Tungamah, Wahgunyah, Wangaratta, Winton, Wodonga, Yackandandah and Yarrawonga.
